New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve and I'm making my second attempt at posting on the blog I created over a month ago.  Have already composed a long post on the ipad but due to my technical incompetence it seems to have disappeared into cyberspace before I published it. My New Year's resolution number one is to post every day for the next month.  Writing shouldn't be a problem as I've been keeping a journal for about 20 years now (yes I very old - well fiftyish), but I've never really shared what I have written before and am a bit nervous about it.  So for now I'll remain anonymous - the name you see on the account isn't mine.

I've been inspired to start this blog by reading others. I really enjoy Style Guile by Beth Goodrham.  Her advice on fashion for women of her age and the way she writes about how her clothes fit her lifestyle is really entertaining and helpful. I contacted Beth who is a stylist to help me revamp my wardrobe so you will see some of the outfits she helped me create here in future posts. I also like School Gate Style by Avril especially because she is from Northern Ireland and I love to read about my home country!  Her style is a bit young for me but her budget is similar to mine - can't always afford the lovely clothes Beth suggests as all my spare money goes on my expensive teenager (School fees, clothes, make up)! When I find out how to do I will link to these blogs.

Haven't managed to find a blog about fashion for the over fifties so this is an attempt to create one.  Not that I am claiming to be an expert - far from it.  I just love clothes and like experimenting.  But it's getting harder as I get older and I don't want to look to muttonish.  So I want feedback and hope to find some followers to advise me.  So here I am in a favourite outfit.  Boden print skirt; brown boots with heel from Gabor; cropped maroon cardi from Next; necklace a present from a sister.  None of it this season.  Looking at it now I can see the tights are the wrong colour and I think it might be a better outfit with shoes rather than boots.  What do you think?

Happy New Year!
